Sackville Sunset Market
Back by popular demand, the Sackville Sunset Market returns for its third year on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 6–9 p.m. This lively evening event at Acadia Park (650 Sackville Drive) will feature a vibrant makers' market with 27 vendors, fun children’s activities, and multicultural performances on the main stage. MAINSTAGE PERFORMERS

Emcee: Laura Eamon
Laura Eamon, originally from Hammonds Plains now proudly living in Sackville, has been performing on several stages for over 20 years. Laura was introduced to Sackville Business Association when interviewing for her first co-op position as an undergraduate student at Saint Mary's University in 2021, and she's always coming back to help bring SBA's incredible projects to life in Sackville. Laura is honoured to emcee this year's Sackville Sunset Market and share the bandstand and Acadia Park with so many talented artists, makers, and Sackville families.

Charlotte Bernard
Charlotte Bernard is a married Mi’kmaq Matriarch, originally from Sipekne'katik, Nova Scotia, and now living in Kjipuktuk (Halifax). A nurse by trade, Charlotte has worked with the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre for many years in various roles, serving and supporting the Urban Indigenous community.
She is the proud mother of three phenomenal daughters and grandmother to two grandchildren, whom she considers her greatest accomplishments. In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys beading earrings, Indigenous crafting, and is known for being an avid hugger.
Amethyst Scottish Dancers
The Amethyst Scottish Dancers of Nova Scotia are a dance troupe composed of highland dancers, ages 9-17, who combine traditional steps and contemporary choreography to give audiences a taste of Nova Scotia’s vibrant Scottish culture.
Since 1985, the troupe has entertained for Royalty, cruise ship passengers, galas, multicultural festivals, civic events, military functions, parades and more. The dancers are always working hard perfecting traditional pieces, creating new East Coast favourites, and supporting local cultural events through dance.

Jill Shireen
Jill Shireen has been studying and performing Egyptian Oriental Dance for over a decade. She trained intensively with the Habeeba Hobeika Egyptian Dance Ensemble in Toronto, Ontario.
She performs regularly at weddings, parties, cultural and corporate events including the Canadian National Exhibition, Friday Night Live at the ROM, and Multicultural Canada Day Celebrations at Dundas Square.

Adhya Praveenkumar
Adhya is an 11-year-old Bharatanatyam dancer who has been passionately honing her craft for the past five years. With over 30 stage performances across Halifax, she continues to captivate audiences with her grace and dedication.
At just six years old, Adhya earned a place in the Indian Book of Records for flawlessly demonstrating 53 Bharatanatyam hand gestures in just 36 seconds. In 2024, she completed both Grade 1 and Grade 2 Bharatanatyam exams with First Class Honours with Distinction. She is currently pursuing a Diploma in Bharatanatyam, continuing her journey as a dedicated young artist.
Wontanara Drum & Dance
Be captivated by Wontanara Drum & Dance, an incredible company and school of African dance and percussion based in Halifax, NS. Founded by master dancer and choreographer Mohamed André Duranteau from Guinea, this dynamic group specializes in teaching and sharing the vibrant traditional languages, rhythms, and songs of Guinea, West Africa.
Wontanara, meaning "we are united" in the Susu language, embodies the true spirit of West African dance culture and traditional music. Their performances are a powerful and unforgettable experience you won’t want to miss.

Sarah Hunt
Sarah Hunt is a Filipina-Canadian singer-songwriter from Sackville. She discovered her love for singing at a young age and began writing her own music in 2021. Through heartfelt lyrics and melodies, Sarah shares her personal experiences and passion for storytelling with every song she creates.
