Businesses 

ELIGIBILITY: The Sackville Business Awards (hereby referred to as “the contest”) will consist of both businesses and individuals connected to the Sackville Business Association (SBA).

Businesses: Eligible nominees include SBA member businesses located within the Sackville Business Improvement District, as well as associate members located outside of the district. To be considered, businesses must meet all requirements outlined in the contest rules and regulations.

Individuals: Eligible nominees must be employed by or affiliated with an SBA member business. Individuals must also meet all requirements outlined in the contest rules and regulations.

Nominators 

ELIGIBILITY: The contest is open for nominating to all residents of Canada aged 18 or older at the time of the contest. Nominators under the age of 18 must seek parental permission before going online to cast their nomination. 

By nominating online, all nominators accept the terms and conditions of the rules and regulations, which are subject to change without notice.

The contest begins September 3, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. Atlantic Time and ends on September 21, 2025 at 11:45 p.m., Atlantic Time. The contest is void where prohibited by law. All times will refer to the Atlantic Time zone. 

Contest Rules, Regulations, and Terms & Conditions 

TO NOMINATE: Nominators must visit one of the five nominating pages, which can be accessed through the SBA website or Facebook page. Nominators will nominate the business or individual they feel best meets the criteria for the appropriate category. When a business is selected, the nominator must then input the appropriate information at the bottom of the nominating page for their nomination to be submitted. All nominations are final and cannot be changed and resubmitted. 

PRIZING: Winning businesses will receive a trophy provided by the SBA.  

WINNERS: There will be five categories that businesses and/or individuals can receive awards in – Best Customer Service, Business of the Year, Community Impact, Business Leader of the Year, and Sackville Employee of the Year. Winners will be contacted within five business days of the contest closing. Awards will be presented at the Sackville Business Gala and Awards ceremony on October 1, 2025. 

BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD CRITERIA: To be nominated for Business of the Year, a business must meet one or more of the following criteria: good customer service, aesthetically pleasing, well-established, supportive of the community, and/or good employer. A business may not win this award more than once every three years. 

BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD CRITERIA: This award honours the business that consistently delivers exceptional service to its customers. Criteria include positive customer feedback, responsiveness to needs and inquiries, consistent quality across interactions, going the extra mile to enhance experiences, and a commitment to staff training. A business may not win this award more than once every three years.

COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD CRITERIA: This award recognizes a business that has made an extraordinary social, cultural, or environmental impact in Sackville. It highlights businesses that actively participate in community events or projects, make meaningful contributions to residents’ well-being or the environment, and show an ongoing commitment to strengthening the Sackville community. A business may not win this award more than once every three years.

BUSINESS LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD CRITERIA: This award recognizes an individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership and inspires others. Nominees may be business owners, managers, or leaders who have introduced creative initiatives that drive innovation and growth, actively promote the Sackville business community and support local economic development, contribute to community service or volunteerism, and show strong leadership within their own company that enhances its overall success and workplace culture. An individual must be employed by, or affiliated with, an SBA member business and may not win this award more than once every three years.

SACKVILLE EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR AWARD CRITERIA: This award celebrates an outstanding employee who goes above and beyond in their role. Nominees should demonstrate initiative and strong leadership qualities, consistently deliver performance that surpasses expectations, exhibit a strong work ethic and positive attitude, and contribute to both teamwork and community impact through their efforts. An individual must be employed by, or affiliated with, an SBA member business and may not win this award more than once every three years.

FAIR VOTING POLICY: Businesses are strictly prohibited from offering any incentives, rewards, or compensation in exchange for votes. Any business found to be engaging in such practices will be disqualified from the contest at the discretion of the SBA. 

ACCEPTANCE OF RULES AND LIABILITY RELEASE: By nominating in the contest, each nominator, or the parent/guardians on the nominator’s behalf, automatically accepts the contest rules, which are subject to change without giving notice, and automatically releases the contest sponsors, participants, SBA board members, SBA employees, and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all liabilities arising in connection with the contest. 

DISPUTE RESOLUTIONS: Any and all disputes relating to the contest will be resolved by the SBA, in its sole and absolute discretion; all decisions shall prevail, and all decisions will be final. 

CONSENT TO RECEIVE EMAILS: Upon nominating in the contest, the nominator will be required to select if they agree to receive SBA emails regarding Sackville events and contests. If the entrant agrees, he/she/they voluntarily provide personal information including, but not limited to, the entrant’s name and email address, and grants the SBA the right to use this personal information to contact the entrant for Sackville events and contests.
