TAPPING INTO THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Get ready to cheers for some new beer making its way into Lower Sackville's downtown core! Ian Smith (pictured to the left), owner of TAPestry Beer Bar will soon be welcoming customers into his industrial yet modern and green space at 833 Sackville Drive to discover the craft of microbreweries from all over Nova Scotia. Ian is serious about his work and has spent the last several months visiting all 68 breweries in the province to build strong connections and find the best brews to complete the lineup at his beer bar. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University and has experience as a bartender. [CONTINUE]

DREAM BIG, START SMALL

Support for small businesses in Sackville can be found all over. Just ask Jennifer O’Quinn (left), a Business Development Officer with CBDC Blue Water. She states, “We support people starting or expanding their business by offering consulting, training, and financing. "O’Quinn suggests to entrepreneurs, “Dream big, start small, and develop your business and grow it as you progress to reach that big dream.” She comments on Sackville’s continued growth, a trend noted by Champniss (centre) of SBA as well. Champniss explains, “Despite the rapid growth, we still have a very tight-knit community and small-town feeling, so you get the best of both worlds here in Sackville.” [CONTINUE]

SMALL BUSINESS, BIG IMPACT: IMMIGRANT-OWNED BUSINESS

As our Sackville community continues to grow, we welcome all sorts of businesses and owners from different backgrounds with varying experiences. Sackville is home to many immigrant-owned businesses, and though they may be considered small businesses, these entrepreneurs are making a big impact in our community. Sackville’s got its very own power couple in Eunha Kim, owner of Jazz Lash & Mellossy Nail, and her husband who both emigrated from South Korea. Eunha has been interested in beauty since she was a teenager, particularly in nails and lashes. [CONTINUE]
